How early should I arrive at the airport?+
Two hours before a domestic flight, three hours before an international one. Add extra time at hubs like ATL, LHR or CDG during peak morning departures.

You are entitled to a full cash refund to your original payment method, or a rebooking on the next available flight at no extra cost. Under EU 261 you may also be entitled to fixed cash compensation.

Can I get compensation if my baggage is delayed?+
Yes, under the Montreal Convention for international flights (up to about USD 2,050 in proven costs) and often through your airline's own policy on domestic flights.

Submit a written claim to the airline citing the regulation, flight distance and delay length. If ignored for 8 weeks, escalate to the departure country's National Enforcement Body.

A layover is under 24 hours (under 4 hours domestic in the U.S.). A stopover is longer and is often used as a free feature by carriers like Icelandair or TAP Portugal to visit their hub city.
Can I bring food through security?+
Solid food yes, liquids and gels only under 100 ml. Fresh fruit is usually blocked at international arrivals due to biosecurity, not at security.
What is TSA PreCheck?+
A U.S. trusted traveler program that lets you use expedited security lanes without removing shoes, belts, laptops or liquids. Costs $78 for 5 years.
Do I have to accept a voucher instead of a refund?+
No. Under current U.S. DOT rules and EU 261, you have the right to a refund to your original form of payment when the airline cancels your flight.
