This Editorial Policy describes how AirHelpService researches, writes, reviews and updates its content. It is intended for readers, industry partners and regulators.
1. Editorial independence
AirHelpService editorial content is produced independently of any commercial relationship. We do not accept payment for coverage. We do not accept gifts or paid travel from airlines, alliances or vendors. Any future advertising, sponsorship or affiliate relationships will be disclosed clearly and separated visually from editorial content.
2. Source hierarchy
We prioritize primary sources: the text of regulations (EU 261/2004, US DOT rulemakings, ICAO Annexes, IATA Resolutions), airline contracts of carriage, and official government advisories. Secondary sources (reputable industry publications, academic research) are used to add context.
3. Fact checking
Every article is fact-checked before publication. Numeric figures (fees, distances, compensation amounts, deadlines) are cross-checked against at least two sources. When a source directly contradicts our draft, we adjust or omit the claim.
4. Corrections
If we make a factual error, we correct it as soon as possible and add a dated correction note. Substantive corrections are logged and visible at the top of the affected article. Typographical corrections are made silently.
5. Updates
Every article displays a 'Last updated' date. When a rule cited in an article changes, we aim to review the article within 30 days. Guides that reference living regulations (passenger rights, visa rules) are reviewed at least once every 12 months regardless of external changes.
6. Bylines and author accountability
Every article carries a named author responsible for its accuracy. Anonymous or pseudonymous bylines are not used. We do not publish articles produced entirely by generative AI; AI tools may be used for research assistance but not for drafting or fact assertion.
7. Reader input
Reader corrections, questions and suggestions are welcome via corrections@airhelpservice.com. Every message is read; we cannot respond individually to all messages but we do act on valid corrections quickly.
8. Ethics
AirHelpService staff and contributors are expected to avoid conflicts of interest, disclose any relationships with subjects of coverage, and refrain from personal trading or promotion of specific commercial travel products in editorial content.
